Push my thinking

These cards can be included in a trade show at the end of the term where students will discuss their ideas, techniques and materials. This show can include local Bronx schools who will also bring their work to display at the show. Holiday Bazaar to sell the cards as greeting cards before the holiday season. Money earned will go directly to student as a way for them to learn about merchandising their art, display options for the show, speaking about their art and selling it.

The students will definitely

The students will definitely bring so much good to this show. I see being able to get so much from what they offer here. The options are endless with the work. Keep up the good work.Wedding photographer

ATCs

To connect with other art teachers for ATC swaps -  the sites I have used are:  swapbot.com and arted20.ning.com.

We do not write back and forth as pen pals, but send the cards back and forth.

Fabulous! How did you connect with these other schools?

Wow!  Thanks for sharing.  This video offers a great level of detail around your module.  Many tools and techniques for another teacher to pick up and try!  You've clearly taken a lot of care in putting this together.

I'm struck with how the small size of the trading cards affords you the ability to do many iterations and allow the students to compile a portfolio that is prolific yet manageable and portable enough to bring to shows and keep in a typical classroom.  I imagine it's also easier on the materials budget.  Brilliant!

I'm curious about how you were able to set up relationships with these other schools and how you manage the penpal relationships with these other students.  Is this something that lots of other schools are doing?  How could another art teacher connect with the community of educators who are trying this approach?  How much writing is going on vis-a-vis connecting with their penpal or exhibiting their work?

Any interest in digitizing these student works into an online gallery, with attached narratives?

Artist Trading Card Module

Problem of practice

Students will create a catalog of their own artist trading cards, swap and collect other student ATCs. How to do our artwork miniature size - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Research other school internationally that will swap with us.

Solution

Create miniature artwork of the size of trading cards 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Students will create a catalog and storage for their cards, cards of other students that we swap with. Research sites where we can network for other schools to swap with.
